Zoomies Rescue is a Chicago based no-kill rescue that helps dogs find their forever home and helps people to find their new best friend. All our dogs live in foster homes where they get that special love and care that they deserve. This process helps provide potential adopters invaluable information about each and every one of our dogs. Each dog has their own story and unique personality that makes them special.
After you submit an application one of our team members will contact you. If you apply and do not hear back within 48-72 hours, please email us at adopt@zoomiesrescue.org to ensure your application was received. We reply to every application, however we are a team of volunteers so please be patient.
Housekeeping items before getting started
  • You must be at least 18 years old to adopt
  • You must be able to show proof of a valid photo ID (acceptable forms of ID: Driver's License, Passport or State ID)
  • Confirm that you lease or HOA allows dogs and whether there are any breed and /or weight restrictions
  • Obtain proof of vaccines for current furry family members
Adoption Process
The following steps outline the adoption process at Zoomies Rescue. This process helps our team identify the right match for everyone – dog and humans!
  1. Fill out and submit an . We understand that there are many questions in this application, and we appreciate your time and patience in completing them. Each question is intended to serve the best interests of both you and the pet for which you are applying. Please read each one carefully and provide thoughtful responses, as they help us ensure that every animal is placed in an environment that suits their personality and needs. Our goal is to match pets with individuals or families who will welcome them as a valued and lasting member of their household. We want both you and your future pet to feel confident and happy with the match, and we strive to make each placement a successful, lifelong commitment.
  2. Connect with an adoption coordinator. An Adoption Coordinator will respond to your application within 48-72 hours and discuss next steps. If you *do not* receive an email response within 72 hours, check your spam folder! If you still don't see a response, email us at adopt@zoomiesrescue.org so we can ensure we received your application. We are a small group of volunteers so please be patient.
  3. Adopt! If your application is approved and the dog you applied for is a good match then it is time to Adopt! Your adoption coordinator will walk you through the adoption contract and next steps to bring your new family member home!
Adoption Fees
  • Puppies under 6 months old - $350
  • Adult dogs (and puppies over 6 months old) - $300
  • Senior dogs (7 years and older) - $250
Adoption fees include: Spay/neuter, microchip, up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm test, and a wellness exam.
Puppies - Zoomies Rescue requires training for young puppies. Adopters of puppies under 6 months old must show proof of enrollment in a positive reinforcement training class within two weeks of adoption at the adopter's expense.
